How to Get from Shanghai Pudong Airport to the City
Top ways you should consider to safely get from Shanghai’s busiest airport to the bustling city center of Shanghai
This piece was inspired by my absolutely horrendous experience commuting from Shanghai Pudong Airpot (PVG) to the city center for the first time. This was in 2023.
Why was it such a terrible experience? Read on.
Having touched down at the airport at a little over midnight, I went to the designated baggage carousel only to find out that the local SIM card sellers had ended their shift.
Apparently, they only operated from 8 AM to 10 PM daily so I was out of luck.
To make matters worse, I had purchased a roaming plan back in my country before heading to China. But upon activating it, I was not able to get any sort of internet access. None.
Not having internet access wasscary. I stormed out of the baggage carousel area after grabbing my luggage and was on my way to the arrival area where I saw taxis lining up.
At the same time, I was approached by random individuals dressed in white shirts claiming to offer heavily discounted prices for giving me a ride to the city center. I did not buy their offers.
